After slowly gathering the parts Tim and Luke setup a Schlieren Photography system. Both for static as well as dynamic imaging. Here are a few photos of our first, successful tries.

The following is a Schlieren video of a pocket butane torch:

A 300 mm lens on the far end of an optical rail.
A razor blade forming the sharp edge, and a piece of fiberoptic as the point light source situated at the focal point of the parabolic mirror.
If you look carefully, you will see the point light source imaged at the edge of the razor blade.
